CORN: It was a short week with the holiday hours but we did have a nice bounce in grains as the corn gained about 10 cents per bushel on Tuesday, December 27 only to lose most of it on December 28. The move is still supportive as we are still above pre-holiday highs and the pattern still suggests a challenge of the $3.60 level on the March contract. We need to break through the $3.60 level to get excited about more upside. Meanwhile, our overhead resistance remains at the $3.60 - $3.70 level, based on the close of the March contract. Support is seen at $3.35 on a close. Although indicators are mixed, the main trend is still down.
SOYBEANS: As expected, we found solid support this week at the $10 level on the March contract and have since had a nice bounce. We are trapped in a trading range and until we close above the $10.50 level or below the $10 level we are without a short term direction. Indicators are still mixed, but the primary trend is still down.
WHEAT: Like the other grains, the past week has produced holiday type action with volatile price swings but going nowhere. The $4 support level has been behaving well and the sloping trend line for the short term outlook has narrowed to $4.20 resistance and $4 support. We seem to have confined ourselves to a narrow range and are in need of a move out of this range to give us some idea of futures pricing. Meanwhile, good support is seen at $3.65 - $3.75 and stiff resistance is at $4.25. All indicators, including the intermediate and primary trends, are still down.
